It is our belief, that to some extent, healing can take place by acknowledging the difficult emotions experienced by children and their families coping with the effect of chronic illness, grief and loss.
By giving form and shape to suffering in words, drawings, play and calm acceptance, perhaps fear, despair, isolation and depression can, to some extent, be alleviated.
It is our aim to provide time and a safe place for children and their families - To reflect on their experiences and enable the expression and containment of fear, anger, anxiety and sadness through the arts.
It is our goal to offer the heart a beautiful garden for its dance. There is a place, away from here, where there is a garden with no end.
I will meet you there. I am quiet and listen carefully. Heart to heart.
Give Sorrow Words
I created this site to offer you a place where you can be heard. A place where you are supported, as you create and hear your own heartsongs, through your words, stories and pictures.
Give sorrow words - and as grief subsides, with healing - love is left.
I will be honored to be available for you or your child as your witness and listener as I offer you non-judgmental support through the arts.
I am the viewer
You are the artist
Let's play together
In your garden with no end
Cher Curshen, the heart behind Bigheart, offers a safe, non-judgmental space where you can comfortably share and explore whatever the issues are that have brought you or your child to therapy.
Bigheart Expressive Arts Therapy Studio is located in Toronto, Canada. The Studio has a private entrance and is cozy and warm. There are about five steps so regretfully no wheelchair access.
In addition, Bigheart Studio offers many art-based programs for the children and families on site at Toronto's Ronald McDonald House, since the fall of 1999.
Bigheart Studio also offers a fully supervised training program, on-site at Ronald McDonald House, for students of ISIS-Canada, an Expressive Arts Training Institute.
Bigheart Studio operates through the kind donations of individuals, families, groups and corporations.
