TWO HEART EMBRACE!

Have you ever felt the awesome power,
that love between two hearts can bring?
It can give to you the greatest strength,
to help when you're dealing with anything.

If you let all of that love work inside you;
holding it so very close within your heart.
Love will keep you strong as it embraces,
and in difficulties, help you not fall apart.

It warms your heart knowing you're loved,
and another wants to ease all your pain.
You can feel secure in never being alone,
at times when life can bring tears like rain.

Love allows you the freedom to be yourself,
without having the disabling fear of rejection.
Because when someone truly does love you,
they accept you, without wanting perfection.

Love means sharing feelings in your hearts;
trusting each other with your words spoken.
In knowing that the precious bonds of love,
will keep the trust shared from being broken.

Having your heart held by each other's love,
makes the challenges of life easier to face.
If you allow your heart to feel all of that love,
you'll know the power of a two heart embrace.

life is not easy and simply but we have to hold each other to keep going.

The Joys of Having Your Mom as Your Best Friend
by Angie Mayen

A mother is someone who is loving, fun to be with, and is another addition to your friends. She's always there for you no matter what. She is someone who was there to see your first step, to hear you first word(s), to celebrate your first birthday, who was there to help you up when you fell down, to help guide you through life and to always tell you "I'll always be there for you".

She's a gift that God sent to you, so you would always have you very own guardian angel.

Most people are blessed with a wonderful and loving mom and that's a lot to be thankful for. What makes my mom so special is that she's my best friend and I'm hers, she's also another addition to my friends. A lot of people might think that's weird having your mom as your best friend, but I really like it, I mean I still have my good friends at school and we do a lot of stuff together, but when I really need someone to talk to and who would understand, accept me, and not judge me, I go to my mom, my best friend.

It's fun for me and I enjoy her company. Sometimes when we're in the car and we like a song we'll turn the radio up all the way and start singing, dancing, and laugh when people look at us strangely.

We go shopping and for coffee with each other, just to hang out and talk. Sometimes if we want to share out secrets with each other we will because we always know they'll be safe, this is why she is very fun to be with.

My mom and I were always close but something bad happened to me a long time ago and we ended up getting closer to each other. I have my friends and they're good to me as I am to them. I even have a friend I used to go to school with as my best friend and we have a good friendship, but who say's you can't have more than one best friend?

My mom is a very special person: she's caring, loving, trusting, creative, silly, and nice. She was and will always be there for me. I have my friends and my mom both with different qualities I like about them.

I'm lucky to have both. To me this is one of my joys in life, having my mom as my best friend. Life is short and you never know what might happen. I'm not saying go and be best friends with your parents but at least let them in your lives, talk to them, and take advantage of their love for you because not all people have the gift of loving parents.

I really enjoy my times with my mom I think of her as my best friend, loving and caring, and another addition to my friends.

Friendship
by Angie (16 years old)

Having a friendship is a unique way of showing your emotions to a person. It involves acts of love, kindness, caring, understanding, compassion, and honesty. It’s a gift to treasure, because not many people have a true friendship with another person because it is hard to find one that will last but when you do find a good one it can last a lifetime.

Friendship is a relationship friend’s share, and only you can make it grow like a flower grows and become a stronger and more beautiful one. You don’t only have to share a friendship with your peers, but also with your family, teachers, or someone else different. It’s a gift to share with everyone. Sometimes the good friends that you find are the ones that are close to you or you wouldn’t even think of them to have as a friend. Having at least one friend in your life that cares for you and respects you can help a lot going through bad times and good times while growing up. Having a friend like you can change a person life for the better. Be proud of what you are sharing with the world even if sometimes they don’t appreciate what you have given them. You have changed a lot of people just by the your advice given, your friendliness, and your ability to listen and not judge right away. You invite many people into your friendship with just that simple warm smile. Thank you for making a difference in my life. I appreciate everything you ever done for me. I thank you for helping me light the light back in my life.

Thank you Cher even though you are so far away you are always there when we need you, this poem is to show you that my mom and me we always remember you.

I Hate Toronto
by Jessica Gough

I hate Toronto
It is very smelly
My sister gets lots of attention
And I don’t get any
You’ve got me stuck between two hills
I’m so very very stuck
Tall buildings everywhere
Feels like a jail that I can’t escape.

Days pass me by
Nothing to do
Things I could have done
If only I were at home
I’d be going swimming
Biking down the road
Feeling the sweat on my face
Sleeping in my bed
Playing with my friends
Picking vegetables from the garden

I’d be really happy there
At the place I once called home.

untitled
by Jessica Gough

My life is a racing roller coaster,
But I forgot to get off at the end.
I feel like a speeding Nascar,
But I can not find the brake.
Everything I do is wrong,
Everything I say is worse.
I'm being thrown around,
I have no stable home,
My friends don't understand.
They think life is wonderful,
But my life is hard.
My sister is always sick,
My mom is never there.
I'm left to take care of my brother,
Although my grandma is there,
It's not the same.
The Smile Garden
by Renessa

I really like my garden,
It has rocks and sand and smiles.
My Mom helped me paint it,
I really like my gold stone
Because it has my name on it
And it shines like the sun!
The sand is very sparkly,
It helps me smile for a while.
And I wish it would come alive,
Because I would play in it all day
And all night,
For all my life.

by Chris Blevins (age 11)

He started out as a whumpo fruit
Cooked by the fire with ashes and soot
Baked with dough so good and delicious
Smelt so good it was almost religious
Put to cool on a rack
Some magic came and turned him black
Making an army of little pies
It would be news if he dies
Villinous talking pies.
CASSIE'S POEMS

Going Home “Survivor” Quilt and Poem

A big, bright yellow sun
Sits over butterflies and flowers
Colorful hand clouds float in the sky
They make me feel relaxed.

In the sky there’s an important message
The message reads “I am a survivor”,
And I am!!

Ode to Best Friends

Best friends are there for each other.
Through the good and the bad.
Best friends trust one another.
Through the happy and sad.

Best friends will always take care,
Through sickness and health.
Through poverty and wealth.

Best friends love spending time together.
Through rain and shine.
Best friends will be best friends for ever.
Till the end of time.

Dreams

Have you ever wanted to fly
Fly high to the stars
Or even to the sky
They both feel so far.

You ever wanted to go to the ocean
Swim as far as the eye can see
Watch the waves and the motion
Wish this is the way it could be

Yes I know it feels unfair
But even if this is what it seems
You still can get there
Every night in your dreams.
I LOVE YOU MOMMY
by Amanda (age 8)

Violets are red
And you are too
When you get a sunburn.

Thank you for letting me have
A swimming party
Thank you for helping me
Thank you for just being you.

In the morning
When I wake up
I feel happy
When I go to sleep at night
You always give me a kiss
And you always
Share my love.

I love you mommy
Thank you.
I HATE NEEDLES
by Alex (age 6)

I hate needles
I hate needles
Take that you smelly needle

Get hanged
With all your blue medicine
I hate you needles

I can tell you a lot about needles
Because I am an expert
But I don't want to tell you
Anything about needles
They hurt
I WISH I HAD A SWORD
by Alex (age 6), Amanda (age 8), Laurissa (age 6), and other children of Ronald McDonald House who prefer to remain anonymous

I wish I had a sword
So I could cut some flowers
And then I'd have a pillow fight
For hours and hours
You are so sweet like sugar
And pepper makes you sneeze
So let's eat some pizza
Because there's apples on my plate you see
Let's eat some fresh meat from Three Horn
And go and pet a tiger
As twinkle twinkle little star
I'm flying to earth on my guitar
The lord of the rings eats hot dogs
And mustard and ketchup too
So I need a new playground to play in
It makes me very happy
Like when I am in a zoo
So look at my little elf hat
Put the necklace over your head
And make it look like a crown
Did you hear what I just said
Gold's rich and free and makes me happy
And I have a golden gun
So make it quick and snappy
So that I can go back and meditate
And sit on some pillows in the bathroom
Play some rock and roll
And eat some strawberries on my plate
I think McDonalds is better than Burger King
But nothing is as bad as Kentucky Fried Chicken
I got hooked on the couch by my underwears
But a dinosaur got me free
So now I'm going to have some chicken
And Britney Spears will sing for me!
MEMORIES
by Shawn (age 17)

As he floated on the cloud
He listened
As his grandfather Albert played his fiddle
And watched
As the rest of his family danced
Around the floor
As the spring night fell
And the blue line of the sky was
Slowly disappearing
ANT LINES
by Avalon (age 8)

My mom is an artist
She does my kind of work
Worms are cool
They wiggle around my hand
I trace my work
And golden sparkles
Make me think of stars
My initials are cool
The big mountains are blue and white
And it is cool to take a picture
Of the mountains
And they bring me joy
MOM
by Angie M.

You always had a gentle spirit,
your warm tender ways,
and the laughter and love that you shared with me.
You brighten my day
with the sound of your voice
and the touch of your hand;
you're always there to guide me
through the bumpy path we were shown.
It's always a joy
to have someone as wonderful,
special,
and unique by my side,
to always lend an ear
when I need someone to listen and advise.
When I was younger,
you helped me to grow
and taught me all I had to know,
you said that I should be brave,
have faith,
love,
cry when I need to,
and that everything in my life
good or bad has a purpose,
even if you can't figure out
why things happen the way they do.
What would my life be with out you,
I'd never have made it this far,
you helped me through all my problems
and now the ones I will soon face,
even that one at first we thought was impossible.
My sense of humour,
passion,
love,
and happiness
all come from you,
you always find a way to put a smile on my face
and protect me from all of the dangers in the world.
You are my mother,
my best friend,
and I always knew
that when God sent you
from the heaven above
he must have smiled.

I LOVE YOU MOM !!
TEARS
by Angie (age 15)

Where do tears come from
I'd like to know
What makes us so sad that we need to cry
How do things like that get this way
why do we let it come this far
why do we really cry in the first place
deep down do we know?
So many questions few little answers
so what do we do about it?
Do we wonder about this forever
and try to hold back our tears that show our emotions.
or
do we let it all out when we need to
until no more can come out and
hope that we feel a bit better in the end.

All I can say is only you have the
answer to this poem
Only you know what's right.
PINBALLS
by Angie (age 15)

They were lost
They were abanded
mad
sad
Asking didn't they want me
What did I do wrong?
crying
confused
Asking themselves why me
Do they hate me?
pain
wondering
Hope comes along
Strange people love them as their own
smiling
happy
Saying thank you
There's hope for me yet
bonding
talking
Sharing feelings
Saying this is where is belong.
HUMBLENESS
by Mohammed

Humbleness is a person who is very quiet.
And quiet can lead me into mysterious and strange things
Or just keep me to myself.
Or just make me a closed person
Which may lead into love because it is a beautiful thing
And sometimes you can hate the same person you love
With such a strong feeling
I guess.
That's what it's all about.
