MY EXPERIENCE WITH MRI MACHINES
By Jonathan Hicks

MRI’s are not fun!

Really really really really not fun.

I can’t remember how many I have had. I think it’s at least 15 of them. They are very very very very very very very very very very very very very very noisy. When I have one I have to wear ear plugs but it’s still very very very very very very very very very very very very very very noisy. My Mom and Dad have to wear ear mufflers too. The only good thing about MRI’s is that inside there is a mirror. So what you might ask. Well, it’s there above your head so that you can see out the end of the MRI machine and look at your parents so you don’t feel so alone in there. So there you are, lying down and squished in tight with Styrofoam around your face so that you can’t move and there is a mirror. It’s like you are in a very noisy tunnel and you can’t move. I am a lot better at getting them now because I know what to expect. I hope that from reading this you find out that it’s not so bad except for the noise. So you don’t have to be scared just be ready for the noise and make sure you look in the mirror.

I don’t remember a lot of times I was in the MRI machine, especially the first time because I was pretty sick. My head was really hurting and I missed a whole day. Imagine that! I woke up and it was the next day. Anyway, my Mom and Dad have told me that I was in the MRI machine for such a long long long long long long long long long long time. So when I came out I was very hot and really sweating. They had to clean me up afterwards and make me all fresh again.

ANGELS FROM ABOVE
by Warren Ross Cameron

Growing up in Mount Thom is a wonderful place to be. It’s the best. You know your neighbors and most of the people who live there. During the summer, Cameron’s Harbour Lights Campground is the place to be. My family and I have spent seven years at this place. We go from the long weekend of May till mid-October. Boy, do I have fun there. I go swimming in the pool. I have swimming lessons each year. On the sunny hot days, we all go to the beach. Oh! The treasures you can find on the beach. My sister and I with our cousins like to collect sea glass. Do you know what that is? We use it to decorate treasure boxes and candle holders.

Imaginary Stories
BEADS AROUND THE WORLD:
Bead for all Seasons

I am a bead for all seasons. That means I am able to live in all climates instantly. So it doesn't matter how fast I am rolling around the world. I change instantly depending on the weather. I am a bead for all seasons and I am KING. You could drop me from a plane, anywhere around the world and I would match the season perfectly.

One day, I will settle down in one place. But for now, I will continue to be a bead for all seasons because - I've got my reasons. Seasons. I like the snow best.

MAGIC CARPET RIDE (Part 2)

One day, I was on the magic carpet at Ronald McDonald House and we went for a ride. I can't remember who was there but there was about 5 of us. Anyway, it was really fun. We went up and up and put our seat belts on too. Just pretend ones. Then we saw a house and we landed the carpet and we all rolled off. We were at Big Macs house! It was really funny. Just like when you go to McDonalds and get a hamburger, that was the name we made up. Then we played in the garden at Big Macs house and there was a dog. It's name was Burger and we didn't want to leave. Then Cher said we had to get back on the carpet and go back but we didn't want to because we were laughing and playing with Burger and Big Mac. It was fun even though we knew it was just pretend. We tried to go back another time but we ended up at the zoo.

EMILY'S JOURNEY ON THE TITANIC

The waves are big today. They are splashing on the side of the boat. I think some of the waves come over the back end of the boat. I can feel the fresh sea air as I breathe in and out. It makes me feel good and my lungs are expanding as they breathe in the healthy sea air. It's a very sunny and beautiful day. I can see all the way, almost to the land. I get my binoculars so I can see further and in the distance, I see something, but I am not quite sure what it is.

BEADS AROUND THE WORLD

Once upon a time there was a boy named Daniel. He was a fine specimen of a boy and he loved beads, especially orange and black ones. He sat for hours and hours and threaded those beads onto a wire. It took him a lot longer than most boys to thread those beads because his hand shook a lot so he had to really concentrate hard. Sometimes it would make him laugh and he’d say, “Look, if I just leave my hand here, the beads jump on the wire – I don’t even have to do anything!”

BEAD M X BIKES

One day I was taking a ride on my bead around the world. I just happened to come across a bike shop because the bead needed a rest so we pulled over. I went in and it was great! It had everything, from shoes to safety gear to great quality bikes.

MAGIC CARPET RIDE

Outside it's a beautiful spring day. The sun is shining, the birds are sitting in the trees tweeting to each other. People are walking along the street wearing t shirts and vests, shorts and skirts. Their toes wiggle in their sandles as they walk. Some newspapers blow down the street and people are calling to each other from across the street.

A STORY OF MY LIFE
By Amanda, Age 8

Part One.

June 2003

When I was a baby I had a heart transplant. I was 7 months old and now I am 9 years old and I need another one. It’s very sad you know so I will tell you more. My favourite colours are Pink and Blue and my favourite pet is a dog. I want a dog. So I was born on the 14th September, 1993 and I had my transplant in 1994. I have a brother his name is Mark. I have four, I mean five best friends. Their names are; Natasha, Alexe, Liselle and Caroline. I have a mother and her name is Joanne and she has cancer. She’s in the hospital right now. So it feels like I live with my Grandparents because I am used to it and I love them so much it’s like they are my parents. Well, here is the reason I don’t live with my Dad. Well, you see, when I had my transplant he left and I don’t know who he is because I have never seen him in my life. My Mom and Dad are divorced so now I live with my Mom and my Grandparents and of course my Brother too.
